Terri was my best friend for forty-two years. She owned several horses in her life including a Tennessee walking horse named Rebel. She enjoyed life and loved to laugh!
In 2000 she discovered a lump in her breast. She fought valiantly with the disease for two years but lost her battle on April 2, 2002. Friends and family associated with Golden View Farm decided to hold a charity event in her honor to raise money for breast cancer research. This started the event “The Celebration for the Cause”which involved a trail ride through the foothills of the Laurel Mountains, a pig roast, and live entertainment. Several American Saddlebred horses joined the trail ride! The final year of the event was our best year ever, donating over $8,000! Since Terri loved to laugh, it was fitting that the last year included a grand comedy show. In total, The Celebration for the Cause” has donated over $23,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to aid in their fight against breast cancer. Every little bit helps and maybe soon this disease will no longer take our friends and family away too soon.
